  1. As a kid, he used to deliver cakes in a station wagon, work in the back of the bakery, and put jelly in the doughnuts.
  2. At the age of 10, he was influenced by Jerry Lewis, whom he met on The Colgate Comedy Hour (1950) when he was working as an extra on the show while doing a skit with Lewis.
  3. In 1963, he dropped out of Hofstra University just after a year to be a part of the off-Broadway musical “Best Foot Forward”.
