Cody Miller Facts
- He was detected with pectus excavatum in his childhood, a structural deformity of the thoracic wall, that caused his chest to curve inwards, limited his lung’s capacities and caused his sternum and rib cage to grow abnormally. His family opted against surgery to correct the deformity and the doctors advised him to swim. Cody, thus, began swimming from the age of 8 and the sport helped broaden his chest and develop his rib cage.
- Before joining the Indiana University, he had represented Sandpipers of Nevada at the club level.
- When he was selected in the United States’ swimming squad for the 2016 Rio Olympics, he became the first swimmer from Indiana University to do so in 40 years.
- When he won the Bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke event at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Cody set a new American record in the event with a time of 58.87 seconds.
- In 2016, he started uploading videos on his self-titled YouTube channel, where he posts content about his career, fitness, training, and personal life. The channel has amassed more than 150k subscribers.
