CouRageJD Facts
- He had started his gaming career playing Halo, the popular military sci-fi video game series. Through the contacts he had made while playing the game online, he had landed an internship with Major League Gaming (MLG), a professional esports organization.
- While working there, he had been selected to host the organization’s daily live show after the regular host Chris Puckett had fallen sick. Despite Chris’s return, he was not removed from the anchoring position as the company felt that he had surpassed expectations in the role. He and Chris were asked to co-host the show.
- This job gave him enough exposure for him to be hosting and casting numerous events between 2014 and 2018. This included the Call of Duty World League Championship (2016, 2017, 2018) and the MLG Tournament Pro League (2014, 2015, 2016).
- In March 2018, he had announced that he would be moving to OpTic Gaming, another esports organization, working with them as a content creator around the Call of Duty video game franchise. Later that year, he had started streaming independently on Twitch, and by November, had decided to embark on a solo career.
- In April 2020, he had hosted a 12-hour charity stream to raise funds for coronavirus relief efforts. He had generated USD 250k in donations within the first 4 hours of the stream and had ended up with more than USD 500k by the time the stream ended. All the funds were donated to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a national health institute in the United States.
- In February 2021, he revealed that he doesn’t like Call of Duty battle royale hit Warzone and would like some changes to make it better.
- In April 2021, CouRage had won the $350K (out of a total of $450,000 prize money) Uno Championship during the 100 Thieves Cash App Pay Day stream.
- In April 2021, CouRage explained that live streaming is a job more difficult than most people think it is because a streamer has to play a game, entertain people, talk to other people in Discord, reading off subscribers, donors, etc. whereas a YouTuber simply records and posts content.
