Daniel Andrews is an Australian politician who became the 48th premier of Victoria in December 2014 and started serving as a member for Mulgrave in the Victorian Legislative Assembly in 2002. In 2006, he became a part of the Bracks Ministry and served as the Minister for Consumer Affairs. He was appointed Minister for Health in the Brumby Ministry in 2007 and served until the defeat of the government at the 2010 election by Ted Baillieu. His time as the premier of Victoria consists of many historical events such as the 2019–20 Australian bushfire season and the COVID-19 pandemic. Regarded as a prominent figure among progressive politicians in Australia, he was described as the “dominant political figure of his generation” by The Age in 2022.
