  1. Growing up, Daren’s mother wanted him to become a pastor at their local Adventist Church.
  2. He made his List A debut on October 2, 2001, at the age of 17.
  3. Daren was the first person from the island of St Lucia to play international cricket.
  4. He made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2004.
  5. In October 2010, Daren was appointed as the West Indies captain.
  6. Sammy is considered to be the only captain to have won the World T20 twice. He captained the West Indies to victory at the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 against Sri Lanka and for the second time at the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 against England.
  7. From 2017 to 2020, Darren captained Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. After this, he stepped down due to a problem with fitness and began coaching the team.
  8. He was informed on August 5, 2016, that he would be dropped as T20I captain of West Indies.
  9. As of May 2023, he had been serving as the head coach of the West Indies cricket team in limited-overs cricket.
  10. Sammy was appointed as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to sports during the 2017 Birthday Honours.
