Dick Van Dyke Facts

  1. He served in the United States Air Force as a radio announcer in the 1940s.
  2. His disastrous cockney accent as Bert in the Julie Andrews-starrer Mary Poppins (1964) has always been subjected to light-hearted mockery and criticism.
  3. Dick’s role model in comedy was Stan Laurel. He formed a close friendship with Laurel and delivered the eulogy at his funeral in 1965.

He was found bleeding from the nose and mouth and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
