  1. In 2010, he was made the member of the Board of Directors of The Trevor Project, which is a non-profit organization that aims to prevent suicide and assists young LGBT people in dealing with familial rejection.
  2. In 2009, he was caught up in a controversy when his s*x tape was released by his former scorned lover. He had to issue a public apology.
  3. The Advocate magazine included Dustin Lance in their special edition featuring Forty Under 40. He was placed on the top in the list for openly gay influential people.
  4. He is the founding member of the Los Angeles-based American Foundation for Equal Rights, which is a non-profit organization that was established in 2009 to support plaintiffs in the legal battle against Proposition 8.
