  1. Until her parents got divorced, she spent her childhood years growing up in the village of Kleinhart in Lower Austria near Vienna.
  2. Her bibliography consists of novels such as Women and PeterThe AncestorThe HelmersThe Pear Tree, and House for Sale.
  3. Alongside Charles Farrell, Humphrey Bogart, and Myrna Loy, Elissa Landi co-starred as Carla (Jim’s wife) in the 1931 pre-code action drama film Body and Soul.
  4. She brought to life the character of Selma Landis (Nora’s cousin) in the 1936 murder mystery comedy film After the Thin Man. Elissa’s co-stars for the project included William Powell, Myrna Loy, James Stewart, Joseph Calleia, and Jessie Ralph.
  5. In 1943, she became a naturalized U.S. citizen.
  6. Elissa Landi was cast as Dr. Royce Lee in the 1943 war film Corregidor. Set in December 1941 through May 1942 during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, Corregidor opens with the following written dedication: “Dedicated to the heroes of the United States and Philippine Armed Forces, and the American Red Cross.”
  7. For her contributions to Motion Pictures, she has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1611 Vine Street.
