Before he started to pursue formula racing, he was first a kart racer and began his career in kart racing in 2006, which eventually progressed to cadet class in 2009 during which he was hailed the MSA British and British Open champion. After he graduated from the KF3 class in 2011, he won the SKUSA Supernationals title and became the CIK-FIA European champion. Russell made his Formula Renault single-seater debut in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps championship and finished 4th despite missing a round due to being ill.

After winning his first race championship victory in the European Formula 3 Championship, Russell demonstrated another outstanding performance at the Spa-Francorchamps which made him secure a lead advantage in the championship after he finished 2nd in two races. On January 18, 2018, he became part of the ART Grand Prix for the 2018 FIA F2 Championship. First Grand Prix

On January 19, 2017, Russell made his debut after signing with the ART Grand Prix for the GP3 Series season. He had a solid start at the beginning of the season at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, where he managed to secure the 4th and 5th position.

Overall, he had brought home a total of 4 victories, 3 pole positions, and 5 further podiums, placing him in a position to seal the championship held at Jerez, Spain. In the end, Russell won the 2017 GP3 Series title after finishing 4th in race two.

First Championship Trophy

After he graduated to Formula Three in 2015, he was scheduled to race in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship and later won his first race championship victory during the opening round of the season held at Silverstone where he finished ahead of his fellow debutant Charles Leclerc and Antonio Giovinazzi.

Personal Trainer

While F1 racers like George Russell don’t necessarily need to train as hard as the other sports athletes, they also have strict and specific workout parameters to follow before their next race championship kicks off. As a race car driver, training for speed and stability is very important. A report published on January 11, 2019, showed a video of Russell’s neck training in preparation for the 2019 season. Neck training is part of the checklist for most professional car racers especially given the fact that driving a car at the highest speed possible requires a lot of neck stability and full control of the steering wheel, which also takes a lot of training to master it.

Aside from neck training, Russell may have also been following more from his checklist in terms of keeping his fitness and health goals well-intact. Looking at his Instagram, he spends most of his free time at the gym working out to prepare himself before his next race. He often tends to post photos and videos of him doing random types of exercises, which only proves to show that he’s pretty much into fitness not just as a racer but as a sports enthusiast in general.
