- Growing up, he was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and so was his father. He was even present at the 2001 World Series where he held the sign “YANKEE FAN TODAY TOMORROW FOREVER” which was captured by a photographer and even brought the sign to his introductory conference meeting.
- He played on the baseball team of Orange Lutheran High School and was drafted in the first round by the New York Yankees in the 2008 MLB Draft but decided to play for the UCLA Bruins baseball team instead. Aside from baseball, he also played on the UCLA Bruins soccer team.
- Cole made his Major League Baseball debut in 2013. In September of that year, he was named the National League’s “Rookie of the Month”.
