Jalen Carter Facts

  1. He spent his childhood years growing up in Apopka, Florida.
  2. As a freshman at the University of Georgia, he played in eight games and recorded 12 tackles and a touchdown reception.
  3. In his sophomore season, Jalen Carter played 12 games and recorded 31 tackles and three sacks. This earned him a spot on the 2021 All-SEC football team. The same year, his college won the National Championship that year over Alabama.
  4. After the Georgia Bulldogs emerged as the winner of the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship, he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and was subsequently selected by the Philadelphia Eagles as the ninth overall pick in the draft.
  5. On September 10, 2023, he made his NFL debut with the Philadelphia Eagles in a match against the New England Patriots. In that game, he recorded his first career sack on Mac Jones.
  6. Jalen Carter recorded his first NFL touchdown during Philadelphia Eagles‘s Week 14 NBC Sunday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys as defensive tackle Fletcher Cox stripped the ball from quarterback Dak Prescott and Carter returned the fumble 42 yards.
  7. He was involved in a legal issue after a serious car crash occurred on January 15, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., resulting in the deaths of University of Georgia staff member Chandler LeCroy and football player Devin Willock. Reportedly, the accident occurred as a result of street racing in East Athens after the Bulldogs had been celebrating their second consecutive national championship earlier in the evening. Chandler LeCroy (whose blood alcohol content was 0.197 which is more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash) was driving a 2021 Ford Expedition and Jalen Carter was driving a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk. LeCroy veered off the road after failing to make a proper turn at a high speed and struck at least two utility poles, downing one of them, and trees before the car came to a stop against the door of an apartment building. Devin Willock was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Also, it was estimated that both cars reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and LeCroy’s speedometer indicated she had been traveling at 83 miles per hour when it broke during the crash.
  8. Prior to the January 2023 car crash, Jalen Carter had been cited for traffic violations three times during the fall semester (twice by campus authorities and once by Athens police for traveling at 89 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone).
  9. During his time at the University of Georgia, he was a unanimous All-American in 2022 and a two-time CFP national champion.
  10. Following his involvement in an accident, an arrest warrant was issued for Jalen Carter on March 1, 2023, and he was charged with reckless driving and street racing. After turning himself in, he was released on a $4,000 bond and later pleaded no contest to the charges on March 16. He was given 12 months of probation, along with a $1,000 fine, and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and a driving course.
