  1. His Hales Franciscan coach Gary London stated that McGee’s natural position in college was ideally small forward and he could play both forward spots.
  2. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds, shooting 53% from the field and 33% from three-point range, in his sophomore season. After this, he made the decision to hire an agent and declare for the 2008 NBA draft.
  3. In the 2008 NBA draft, JaVale McGee was selected by the Washington Wizards as the 18th overall and signed a two-year, $2.4 million deal on July 9, 2008.
  4. The Washington Wizards fined him $10,000 on January 9, 2010, for his participation in Gilbert Arenas’ antics before a game on January 5, 2010, against the Philadelphia 76ers.
  5. He was selected to participate in the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest on January 6, 2011, becoming the first Wizard to ever participate in the contest. He eventually lost to Blake Griffin and placed 2nd.
  6. During his stint with the Wizards, JaVale McGee averaged over 10 points and eight rebounds in 2010–11 and 2011–12.
  7. He was traded to the Denver Nuggets on March 15, 2012.

  12. He recorded the largest documented arm-span of any current NBA player at 7 ft 6.5 in (2.30 m). His record was then broken by Rudy Gobert (with an arm-span of 7 ft 8.5 in (2.35 m) who was drafted by the Nuggets in the 2013 NBA draft.
  13. JaVale co-produced the song Available on Justin Bieber‘s 5th studio album titled Changes in 2020. The album was named one of “The 50 best albums of 2020 (So Far)” by Billboard in June 2020.
