- She has recalled one of her most cherished stories about her grandfather’s life. He used to love the mornings and would wake up her mother so that she would stop burning the daylight. When Jennifer’s mother was still a young girl, she used to sleep in a bunk bed, always on the bottom berth. Once she had brought her best friend and they had switched so her friend was sleeping on the bottom berth instead. The next morning, her grandfather had gone on his usual round and visited the bottom bunk, his slap landing sharply on the occupant’s butt, upon which the invited guest had screamed and jumped up. After everyone realized what had happened and her grandfather had got over his extreme embarrassment, they had all ended up rolling on the floor with laughter.
