- In 2004, John called it quits with Endemol. Later, he started his own TV station called “mol.” Initially, John wanted to name it Tien. However, he had to change it due to its clash with the TV10 brand title.
- John’s younger sister Linda who is also an actress and presenter has appeared in various shows of her brother’s production company including the Dutch version of Deal or No Deal and Miljoenenjacht.
- In the year 2010, John started the hit reality show The Voice of Holland. The show received world-wide attention and was later released in other countries including the United States.
- John is the mastermind behind the hit TV show Big Brother under his then production company John de Mol Produkties. The production company was also his first big organization.
