Jyothi completed her schooling at Port High School in Visakhapatnam. Later, she enrolled at Acharya Nagarjuna University.
Jyothi was enlisted at the Sports Authority of India hostel in Hyderabad where she trained for two years under the watchful eye of coach Olympian N Ramesh. Then, she joined the Centre of Excellence in Guntur. In 2019, Yarraji began training under British coach James Hillier at the Reliance Athletics High-Performance Centre located in Bhubaneswar.

- She broke the first record in early 2023, for the national record in the indoor 60-meter hurdles five times, aside from winning a silver at the 2023 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships at Astana in Kazakhstan.
- Jyothi suffered a back injury which prevented her from competing in any events in 2021. However, she made a strong comeback at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the 100-meter hurdles and was also a part of the Indian Women’s 4 X 100-meter relay team which came in at 5th place in the finale.
