- She and her mother relocated to Australia when she was 3 months old, after her parents’ separation. The two 1st settled in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales and moved to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia when she was 10 years old.
- Her mom suggested her to start playing basketball as a way to make friends at the age of 10.
- Liz was teased for her height at school. When she was 10 years old, her height was already 6 ft or 183 cm, while at the age of 14, she was already 6 ft 5 in or 195.5 cm tall.
- She is one of the tallest female basketball players in the WNBA. Ahead of her were Sue Geh, at 6 ft 9 in or 206 cm and Margo Dydek, who stands at a height of 7 ft 2 in or 218.5 cm.
- After she participated in the national team training camp in 2012, she was one of the key players for Australia’s national team at the 2012 Olympic games. Her team won a bronze medal against Russia with a score of 83 to 74.
- On August 2, 2012, she successfully dunked the basketball with 1 hand and her team won against Russia with 70 to 66. Even though many believed it to be the 1st successful dunk by a female athlete at the Olympic Games, FIBA has never officially confirmed it.
- Liz took a 5-year break from WNBA after she felt physically exhausted from the 2012 London Olympics. On the morning, her flight to play for Tulsa Shock in the 2012 season was due, she announced she would take a break. Liz came back to play for Tulsa in the 2013 season but didn’t play in WNBA until she signed a deal with Dallas Wings in February 2018.

In addition to not taking medications, a break-up with an on-and-off boyfriend led her to spiral out of control.
