Macy Chiasson Facts

  1. When Macy was 19 years old, she was involved in a car accident that had left her bed-ridden for more than a month. She used to play softball in high school and to retain those levels of fitness, she had started getting trained in mixed martial arts after recovering from her injuries.
  2. She had joined a martial arts gym and had started attending some Krav Maga (military self-defense and fighting system developed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), derived from a combination of techniques sourced from boxing, wrestling, Judo, Aikido, and karate) classes. Impressed by the mental strength that those classes had instilled in her, she had started teaching Krav Maga after a year of training. She had later transitioned to mixed martial arts, as Krav Maga was not a competitive combat sport.
  3. She had eventually started her professional mixed martial arts career in 2017 and after winning both her first 2 bouts, she had been selected to participate in The Ultimate Fighter 28, an installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)-produced reality TV series The Ultimate Fighter. In the quarter-final stage of the competition, she had defeated Larissa Pacheco via a technical knockout in the first round. In the semi-final, she had overcome Leah Letson, again by way of knockout in the first round.
  4. She was subsequently signed by UFC and had made her promotional debut on November 2, 2018, on The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale. In that final, she had defeated Pannie Kianzad via a rear-naked choke submission in the 2nd round to clinch The Ultimate Fighter women’s featherweight tournament.
  5. Her defeat to Lina Länsberg, via unanimous decision, on September 28, 2019, at UFC on ESPN+ 18, was the only defeat in her professional mixed martial arts career, as of September 2021.
  6. Her bout against Marion Reneau was originally scheduled for February 2021 but had to be rescheduled after Marion had been tested positive for COVID-19 in the week leading up to the fight. The bout was postponed once more and had eventually taken place in March 2021, at UFC on ESPN 21. Macy had won the fight via unanimous decision.
