  1. She was born out of wedlock in 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  2. Her father was a policeman.
  3. Maria relocated to Miami, Florida in October 1948.
  4. She began to garner fame in 1953, after being introduced to glamor photographer Bunny Yeager by fellow glamor photographer Bill Hamilton. She was the first-ever model to pose for Yeager which was featured in the 1954 issue of the magazine Eye – People and Pictures. On the other hand, Maria was featured in various men’s magazines including “Caper,” “Gala,” “Glance,” and “Rogue”.
  5. Maria was crowned Miami’s Marilyn Monroe in 1954, at a beauty contest that was held by “The Miami Herald”. After this, she went on to take part in the Miss Florida beauty contest.
  6. She posed for bondage-style photographer Irving Klaw in 1954.
  7. Maria made her debut feature film appearance as Eleanor in Diary of a Nudist in 1961.
  8. After her divorce from Harry, she relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where she lived the remainder of her life.
  9. Maria tragically died at the young age of 36 after overdosing on pills in November 1967.
  10. She appeared as a nudist in various films including Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls, Goldilocks and the Three Bares, Nudes on Tiger Reef, and How I Became a Nudist.
