Milos Raonic is a Canadian professional tennis player who achieved the world No. 3 ranking in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals in 2016, which made him the highest-ranked Canadian tennis player at that time. Despite he was offered numerous scholarships from colleges such as Princeton, Northwestern University, and the University of Michigan, he chose to accept the one offered by the University of Virginia and studied finance there while playing tennis at the same time. But however, only two weeks before the school year was about to begin, Raonic decided to become a professional and eventually turned down the scholarship.

Milos Raonic Facts

  1. At the age of 3, Milos and his family relocated to Brampton, Ontario from Montenegro.
  2. Milos speaks Serbian and English fluently.
  3. He was first introduced to tennis when he was 6. Milos then attended a one-week tennis camp in Brampton.
  4. Raonic’s father wanted his son to be coached and trained by Casey Curtis which in fact did happen after Casey saw the commitment of Milos who worked with his father and the ball machine every day for two months regularly.
  5. In 2007, Raonic moved with another group of players to the National Tennis Centre at Montreal.
  6. Milos was a part of the 2016 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. He played along with fellow Canadian tennis player Eugenie Bouchard.
  7. During the 2011 Canadian Open, Raonic was an analyst for Rogers Sportsnet.
  8. In 2011, Milos played an exhibition match against his childhood idol Pete Sampras.
  9. In 2012, he bought 50 metre2 apartment in Monte Carlo.

  12. When Milos was starting his career, he had to choose whether he would like to follow in the footsteps of the former Canadian tennis player, Greg Rusedski who played and represented Great Britain. However, Raonic decided to play and represent Canada instead.
