R. Madhavan is an Indian actor, writer, film director, and producer who has predominantly worked in Tamil and Hindi language films and rose to fame with his role as Karthik Varadharajan in Mani Ratnam’s successful romance film Alaipayuthey in 2000. This role also won him the Filmfare Award for “Best Male Debut – South”. He has been credited as one of the few actors in India who has been able to achieve pan-Indian appeal and has won at least 4 Filmfare Awards South and 3 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. He is known for his roles in films like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Kannathil Muthamittal, 3 Idiots, Tanu Weds Manu, Tanu Weds Manu: Returns, Night of the Living Dead: Darkest Dawn, Savyasachi, Manmadan Ambu, Tipu Kanan Tipu Kiri, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Evano Oruvan, Nothing but Life, Ramji Londonwaley, Anbe Sivam, Irudhi Suttru, Dumm Dumm Dumm, Inferno, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Nothing but Life, Rang De Basanti, and Guru. Best Known For
Being one of the most versatile and well-known actors in the Indian film line who has managed to mark his presence in regional as well as national films.
R. Madhavan made his theatrical film debut in an uncredited role in the movie Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin in 1996.
His first credited role was in the 1997 movie Inferno.
First TV Show
R Madhavan made his television show debut on the romantic television series Yule Love Stories in 1993.
