  1. He comes from a family of Qawwals and classical singers.
  2. He got inclined toward music at a very young age.
  3. At the age of 9, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gave his first public performance at the death anniversary of his grandfather.
  4. As a playback singer, he made his Bollywood debut with the song Mann Ki Lagan in the 2003 crime-thriller film Paap.
  5. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was invited to the concert at the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and thus became the first Pakistani to perform at any Nobel Prize concert. He went on to perform popular Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan qawwalis Tumhe Dillagi and Mast Qalandar.
  6. He has won many accolades including the Filmfare Award, Lux Style Award, UK Asian Music Award, ARY Film Award, and Hum Award.
  7. In 2016, he appeared in MTV Unplugged (India).
  8. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s daughter stated in 2018 that she intended to take legal action against copyright infringement of singers who sing her father’s songs. Replying to it, Rahat stated that he was the adopted successor of Nusrat and didn’t need anyone’s permission to sing his songs.
  9. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was accused of smuggling foreign currency and summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of the Government of India in January 2019.
  10. Growing up, his father used to beat him a lot. Moreover, his ‘ustad’ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was also very strict.
