Rakesh Sethi is an Indian chef, restaurateur, author, and TV personality who started his career as a unit chef with the Hotel Corporation of India Limited, a public limited company wholly owned by Air India Limited that was incorporated in July 1971 when Air India decided to enter the hotel industry in keeping with the then prevalent trend among world airlines. In 1993, as a sous chef, he joined The Leela Kempinski, a luxury hotel in Mumbai. He served there for about a year and his next major assignment came in 1998 when he joined The Oberoi in New Delhi, as an executive sous chef. In 2001, he joined InterContinental The Grand in New Delhi, as an executive chef. From 2004 to 2008, he was the executive chef at Taj Air Catering in New Delhi. In January 2008, he was appointed the executive chef at the Ramada Plaza in New Delhi where he was later promoted to the post of executive assistant manager. In December 2010, he was recruited as the network culinary head and editor of Food Food, an Indian cooking-based TV channel, a post that he held until July 2013. In August 2013, he was appointed the executive chef of the Radisson Blu hotel in Dwarka, New Delhi. In April 2017, he was named the corporate executive chef of the Radisson Hotel Group.

Rakesh graduated, in 1981, from an institution of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (a system of central government schools in India).
After his high school graduation, he joined the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology, & Applied Nutrition, Pusa, New Delhi (IHM Pusa), one of the 21 central IHMs set up by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. He graduated from there with a diploma in hotel management.
In parallel, he joined, in 1983, the University of Delhi, a collegiate, public, central university in New Delhi. He attained a degree in humanities from there in 1985.

- Rakesh has hosted multiple cooking-based TV shows including Mirch Masala, Rasoi ki Rani, Tea Time with Rakesh Sethi, Namkeen Nation, and Sethi Sahab ki Rasoi.
- The first of those shows, aired in the 2000s, was quite popular and ran for more than 160 episodes. He had stated in an interview that his major wish with the program was to impart knowledge to home cooks, especially housewives, on how they could add a contemporary spin to authentic Indian cuisine. He has also published a book with the same name.
