- Alongside Amitabh Bachchan and others, Soundarya appeared as Radha Thakur Singh in the Hindi-language musical drama film, Sooryavansham, in 1999.
- In 2002, she co-starred as Nagi in the Kannada-language film, Dweepa, based on the novel of the same name by Na D’Souza. This role won her the Karnataka State Film Award for “Best Actress” and Filmfare Award South for “Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Kannada”.
- In the name of her father, Soundarya had opened 3 schools for orphaned children in Bangalore. Following her demise, her mother started more schools, institutions, and orphanages under the name “Amarsoundarya Vidalayas” in Bangalore.
- Soundarya joined Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2004 and at the time of the fatal plane crash that took her life, she was traveling to Karimnagar from Bangalore during an election campaign to support the party. Her brother, Amarnath, also became a victim of the crash. Reportedly, the aircraft, a Cessna 180 owned by Agni Aerosports, took off at 11:05Â a.m. and turned west before crashing on the campus of the Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the University of Agricultural Sciences.
- It was also reported that the aircraft had reached only a height of 100 feet and burst into flames.
