Thibaut Courtois Facts

  1. He started his career as a left back in the local club Bilzen V.V.
  2. At the age of 7, he moved to Racing Genk and started playing as a goalkeeper.
  3. Thibaut won the Belgian Pro League with Genk during the 2010-2011 season.
  4. In July 2011, Thibaut signed a five-year deal with the English club Chelsea for a total of 9 million euros.
  5. Once he joined Chelsea, he was loaned to the Spanish club Atlético Madrid.
  6. He won the 2013 Copa del Rey trophy with Atlético Madrid. In the finals, he was named the man of the match after his team beat Real Madrid with the final score 2-1.
  7. His loan to Atlético Madrid was extended for 12 more months before the start of 2013-2014 season.
  8. Courtois performed in the 2014 UEFA Champions League Final. Atlético lost the final with 1-4 to Real Madrid.
  9. In June 2014, he returned to Chelsea. On September 11, 2014, Thibaut signed a five-year deal with Chelsea.
  10. He won the 2015 League Cup after Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 2-0 in the finals.
