Tony D’Angelo Facts
- Before becoming a professional wrestler, he used to work as a delivery boy as well as a personal trainer at a gym.
- Tony made his WWE debut in October 2021, in an episode of its NXT brand, and defeated his opponent in just a few minutes. Over the next few weeks, he strung together a series of victories. His first defeat in NXT came in late December 2021.
- In early April 2022, at NXT Stand & Deliver (a professional wrestling live-streaming event produced by the WWE), he defeated Tommaso Ciampa in what turned out to be the latter’s final match in NXT. After the win, Tony dubbed himself ‘The Don of NXT‘.
- In June 2022, he was defeated in a match due to interference by another wrestler. The result meant that he had to miss out on an opportunity to capture the NXT North American Championship. In August 2022, he fought for the NXT Tag Team Championship but was defeated again, incredibly, by the same wrestler’s interference.
- Later that month, in NXT Heatwave (a professional wrestling TV special produced by the WWE), Tony defeated the aforementioned interfering wrestler in a street fight and, as per the stipulation, the latter had to leave NXT.
- In 2022, he was ranked 182nd in the PWI 500 – an annual list of the 500Â best professional wrestlers in the world, published by Pro Wrestling Illustrated (an American professional wrestling magazine founded in 1979).
- In July 2023, at NXT: The Great American Bash (a professional wrestling event produced by the WWE), Tony won the NXT Tag Team Championship. It was the first title triumph of his wrestling career.
- In October 2023, at NXT: Halloween Havoc (another professional wrestling event produced by the WWE), he lost this title – ending his reign at 86 days. However, in a rematch on November 14, 2023, he regained the NXT Tag Team Championship. In February 2024, Tony lost this title, ending his second reign at 91 days.
- His finishing move is the ‘Swinging Fisherman Suplex’. His signature moves include the
‘Flying Back Elbow’, the ‘Northern Lights Suplex’, and the ‘Short-Arm Clothesline’.
