Uji was a part of EXID‘s debut single album, Holla, which was released in February 2012.

- Uji was formerly a trainee with the JYP Entertainment where she was supposed to debut with a girl group that would have also included singers like Hyorin, a member of Korean girl group SISTAR, Hani from EXID, and Ji Eun from Secret. However, things didn’t go as planned.
- She was scouted by producer Shinsadong Tiger and AB Entertainment and was the first trainee to be accepted for the Korean girl group, EXID.
- Uji was the one to contact Hani, Haeryeong, and Junghwa to audition for AB Entertainment.
- In April 2012, Uji departed from EXID and the reason stated by the agency for her departure was that she wanted to focus on her studies.
