- The 2016 Bollywood blockbuster film Dangal was based on her and her older sister Geeta’s lives as well as the struggles of her father who has coached all of the Phogat sisters. Real-life wrestler Pooja Dhanda who was initially selected to portray her in the film, could not do so due to an untimely injury. Pooja has, incidentally, defeated both her (final of the 2013 National Championship) and Geeta (2018 Commonwealth Games selection trials) in real-life wrestling championships.
- She had participated in the prestigious Dave Schultz Memorial Tournament in 2010, 2012, and 2014. She had won the ‘Bronze’ medal in the 2012 edition of the tournament and the ‘Silver’ medal in 2014.
- Babita had participated in the 2019 edition of the popular dance competition-based reality TV show Nach Baliye (Indian version of Let’s Dance), with her then-fiancé Vivek Suhag. The pair had been the 3rd team to be eliminated from the show.
- She had taken the plunge into politics in August 2019 by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. Two months later, she was given a ticket to fight state-level elections in Haryana from the Charkhi Dadri constituency. She had lost the election to Sombir Sangwan.
