- He was a Minnesota high school state champion.
- In the final of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 84 kg category, Chad Gable went on to defeat Jordan Holm 2 to 0.
- He competed in the Greco-Roman style 84 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and defeated Keitani Graham from the Federated States of Micronesia in the qualification round. He was eventually eliminated from the competition in the next round as he lost 3–0 to Pablo Shorey of Cuba.
- He signed a contract with the professional wrestling promotion WWE in November 2013 and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. He adopted the ring name “Chad Gable” as a nod to Olympian Dan Gable.

- Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin defeated The New Day and Rusev and Aiden English in a triple threat match on the January 2, 2018, episode of SmackDown Live to earn another shot at the SmackDown Tag Team titles. However, they lost the following week.
- As part of the 2018 WWE Superstar Shake-Up, Chad Gable was moved to Raw on April 16, 2018, and thus his tag team with Benjamin was disbanded.
