Christian Lundgaard Facts

  1. He began his racing career with karting in 2012 and made an immediate impression. He became the Danish karting champion in 2012 and 2016 and won the 2015 CIK-FIA European Karting Championship. In December 2016, he was ranked at number 5 on a list titled ‘Top 10 Karting Drivers with Future Potential’ that was compiled by Motorsport.com.
  2. When he won the 2017 SMP F4 Championship title, his first major single-seater tournament, he dominated the field to such an extent that he won the trophy with one race still to go. He won 10 out of the 21 races in the season.
  3. When he finished as runner-up in the 2018 Formula Renault Eurocup series, his first appearance in the tournament, he won 4 out of the 20 races. It was the best performance by a rookie driver in that season.
  4. At the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship, his maiden appearance in the championship, he had won the very first race of the season at the Circuit de Barcelona, on the track. However, after the race, he was handed a 5-second penalty since he had fallen too far behind the safety car in the early period of the race. Consequently, he was demoted to 2nd place in the final race standings.
  5. In late February 2020, he was forced to miss critical pre-season Formula 2 test sessions in Bahrain due to the global coronavirus pandemic. He had been participating in a winter training camp arranged by the Renault Sport Academy in Tenerife and had to remain confined in his hotel room for more than 2 weeks after one of the occupants in the hotel was detected with the virus.
