- He kickstarted his career by portraying the character of Hans Strauss, a young man, in the 1989 British dramatic film, Reunion, in which he co-starred alongside Jason Robards, Samuel West, and Francoise Fabian.
- Christien Anholt was cast as Derek in the 1998 American made-for-television science fiction film, 30 Years to Life (also known as Nightworld: 30 Years to Life).
- From 1999 to 2002, he brought to life the character named Nigel Bailey, Sydney Fox’s more reserved British teaching assistant and companion who accompanies her on her travels whilst searching for the relics, in the Canadian fantasy mystery action-adventure television series, Relic Hunter.
