  1. Soon after graduating from high school, he moved to San Francisco where he studied acting and started acting in local theatre productions.
  2. As an actor, he got his first big breakthrough by portraying Mr. Franklin Jones, Joop, and Mr. Venus in the highly acclaimed musical, Passing Strange. He was later cast in the film version of the play as well.
  3. In 2010, he premiered his Off-Broadway show, A Boy and His Soul, at the Vineyard Theater. It was a one-man autobiographical play which was written and created by him.
  4. His solo show was highly rated by the critics and helped him win a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show. He was also nominated for a host of other prestigious awards.
  5. Later, his work in the Broadway production of The Scottsboro Boys was well received. He retained his role in the play for the London production as well.
  6. In the 1st season of Fear the Walking Dead, he was cast in a recurring role. But, the show audience loved his acting and role which led to producers making him a member of the main cast from the 2nd season.
  7. He became a member of the Actors’ Branch of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017.
