Connie Talbot Facts
- She had never taken any singing lessons when she had arrived for the auditions of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007 but her stellar performance had received international coverage as she was so young. She had sung a track titled Over the Rainbow from the fantasy film The Wizard of Oz (1939) in the competition’s final. Although she lost, she had decided to use Over the Rainbow as the title of her debut studio album that was released in November 2007.
- In August 2008, she had signed a contract with a company called Data Design Interactive for the creation of a video game on the Wii console that would feature 15 songs from her debut album and that would allow players to sing along with a computer-generated image of Connie. The game was called Connie Talbot: Over the Rainbow and she had to re-record the album for it.
- In addition to her fame in the United Kingdom and the United States, she has a massive following in eastern and south-eastern Asia. She had performed as the opening act of a special concert in 2010 that was arranged to celebrate South Korea’s hosting of the G20 Summit that year. She had then performed for the Chinese state television on the occasion of the Chinese new-year in 2011. The TV viewing figures for the show’s broadcast were estimated to be somewhere around 400 million.
- Both she and her older brother Josh are ardent supporters of the English soccer club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
- She had competed in the 2019 Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions and the 2020 America’s Got Talent: The Champions competitions, special edition events of the reality TV franchises, but had been eliminated in the preliminary round in both competitions.
