Katarina Johnson-Thompson is an English heptathlete who has won the ‘Gold’ medal in the heptathlon event at the 2019 Doha World Championships, the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the 2013 Tampere European Under-23 Championships, and the 2009 Brixen World Youth Championships. She had also won the ‘Silver’ medal at the 2018 Berlin European Championships. Besides heptathlon, she has excelled in the pentathlon and long jump events as well. In the former event, she had won the ‘Gold’ medal at the 2019 Glasgow European Indoor Championships, the 2018 Birmingham World Indoor Championships, and the 2015 Prague European Indoor Championships. In the latter, she had clinched the ‘Gold’ medal at the 2012 Barcelona World Junior Championships and the ‘Silver’ medal at the 2014 Sopot World Indoor Championships. At the national level, she had won the long jump title at the 2014Â British Athletics Championships and the British Indoor Athletics Championships (2014, 2018, 2019). She had also secured the high jump title at the British Indoor Athletics Championships in both 2014 and 2015.

- Katarina’s parents had parted ways just after her birth and she had spent the first year of her life with her father in Nassau, Bahamas, after which she was raised by her mother in Halewood near Liverpool.
- In September 2012, she had been nominated for the ‘European Athletics Rising Star’ award. The following month, she had been honored with the ‘Lillian Board Memorial Award’ (junior women) at the British Athletics Writers’ Association Awards.
- At the 2019 Doha World Championships, where she had won the ‘Gold’ medal in the heptathlon event, she had set a new British record with a score of 6,981 points. This had placed her at number 6 on the all-time heptathlon list.
- As of January 2021, she had held the British record (5,000 points) in the women’s pentathlon event. At that point in time, she had also held the British high jump record – 1.98 m outdoors (set in 2016) and 1.97 m indoors (set in 2015).
