- In 1999, she became a cast member of the professional ensemble, ComedySportz. She was also a part of The Second City, which performed in Chicago and Las Vegas.
- While she was performing and writing for Chicago based theatres, she met actress Tina Fey, who had also trained with The Second City. It proved to be a turning point in her career.
