- Kim’s talent for acting was initially discovered by her school’s principal who convinced Kim and her parents to allow her to audition for her debut film A Season of Blooming Love in 1974. Later, in 1975, she appeared in her first TV show 제3교실.
- In 1978, she released her first album titled Kim Bo-yeon’s Golden Album. After that, Bo-yeon went on to release several other albums including Kim Bo-yeon ’82 (1982), Golden 3 (1980), Golden Hits (1979), and Carol Song Special (1979).
