LaurenzSide Facts

1. Lauren had wanted to be either a veterinarian or a movie director when she was growing up.
2. When Lauren was in 3rd grade, her parents sent her to a Catholic school. The reason behind this was the administrative re-structuring of school districts in her region which would have caused her and her brother to be in different schools.
3. She was interested in gaming from a very young age and was, self-admittedly, a tomboy.
4. Her father was diagnosed with lung cancer when she was in the 2nd year of her high school. He maintained a positive demeanor throughout his hardship and Lauren has credited him for her sense of humor. He passed away when Lauren was 15 years old. After the tragic episode, she went through depression and had episodes of anxiety.
5. She started her YouTube channel in 2007 and her channel’s title ‘LaurenzSide’ refers to ‘Lauren’s side of the story’. She suspended work on YouTube after a year or so and returned to the channel in 2013 after discovering gaming commentary-related content on the platform.
6. When she moved back to New York City during her college years, she lost about 40 lbs of weight.
7. Lauren was nominated in the ‘Gaming’ category at the 11th annual Shorty Awards and ended up as one of the finalists.
