- His mom had him at the age of 15 and raised him singlehandedly.
- His parents weren’t together when his father committed suicide. Because his father suffered from mental illness, his mom focused on being honest, open-minded, and supportive of Matt.
- He developed an interest in hip-hop between the ages of 4 and 5 by listening to Kendrick Lamar‘s song Young & Black (2009). He also listened to Eminem, Michael Jackson, and Marilyn Manson as a kid, inspired by his uncle who was in a band.
- Matt started writing his rhymes at the age of 5.
- He stated that his earliest rhymes were filled with profanity. When he started making music for a public audience, he toned down the cussing to make them more commercially viable.
- He started pursuing a career in rap/hip-hop music when he was 11 years old.
- Before he became a rapper, Matt uploaded skits to YouTube.
- His mom described him as “really hyper”.
