  1. Her musical influences are legends such as Barbra Streisand, Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins.
  2. According to her parents, Maureen had started singing from the young age of 3 years. Furthermore, at night, she would oftentimes sing herself to sleep by reciting what she had heard on the radio during the day.
  3. She knew that she wanted to be a professional singer at the young age of 8 years.
  4. Maureen was diagnosed with posterior cortical atrophy, which is a form of Alzheimer’s disease, in 2021. In light of her diagnosis, she made the decision to stop doing concert performances and announced her diagnosis to her fans the following year in 2022.
  5. In November 2005, she performed as Marmee (the family matriarch) in the National Touring Company for the beloved Broadway musical, Little Women.
  6. In 1976, Maureen recorded a cover version of the famous song titled The Continental, which peaked at #16 on the UK Singles Chart upon its release. The original song belonged to the film, The Gay Divorcee (1934) starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and became the first-ever Oscar winner for ‘Best Original Song’ in 1935 as the category was only introduced that year at the 7th Academy Awards.
  7. In a single year, she recorded 2 movie themes that were nominated for ‘Best Song’ at the 47th Academy Awards in 1975. The first one was We May Never Love Like This Again for John Guillermin’s The Towering Inferno (1974) and the second one was Wherever Love Takes Me for Peter R. Hunt’s Gold (1974). Of the two, the former managed to win the prestigious award.
  8. Arguably, Maureen’s most popular song is The Morning After (the theme song from the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure). The song performed well on the charts and sold more than 1 million copies worldwide.
