  1. Jones is an immediate descendant of Edward I of England.
  2. At the age of 10, Quincy moved to Bremerton in Washington along with his father and stepmother.
  3. During his teenage years, Q would go around playing in niche clubs and wedding gigs with his partner Ray Charles, who was a pianist /singer.
  4. Quincy Jones enjoys the music of artists like Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, Mariah Carey, and Dr. Dre.
  5. At the age of 14, he was involved in a car accident that further refrained him from learning how to drive.
  6. Throughout the 1950s, Quincy would write out charts for musicians such as Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Sarah Vaughan, and his old friend Ray Charles.
  7. In 1956, he started performing for the band Dizzy Gillespie as their music director and trumpeter in parts of south and middle-east America.
  8. In 1957, Q moved to Paris where he got a job at Barclay Disques, which was Mercury Records’ French distributor after he studied a great deal of composition from French composers Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen.
