Personal Trainer

Robin is an early riser, and gets up at 3:15 A.M. every morning, and watches the news on TV for about 10 minutes to catch up, and then meditates for 20 minutes. She found out about meditation from her Good Morning America co-anchor, George Stephanopoulos, who she noted managed to stay calm despite a crazy work schedule. Before Robin goes out the door, she says a prayer of protection. She also stated that she never drinks coffee, and instead drinks plenty of water on her drive to the studio, while she opts for fermented tea (kombucha) during the breaks in-between filming. Robin also cannot have an early breakfast, and prefers eating vitamin gummies in the morning, but does eat a calorie-dense meal at the studio between 8 A.M. and 9 A.M.

Robin also has a habit of blowing a kiss to her mom and dad before she enters the studio, because she used to call her mom every morning prior to her passing away in 2012. In addition, Robin wasn’t one of those people that claimed cancer was the best thing that happened to her, as she already never smoked, ate right, and drank alcohol in moderation prior to 2007. However, being in shape helped her endure all of the treatments and made her stronger for it and taught her how to aid her recovery, and keep her workouts interesting.

For example, she switches between normal cycling in nature, and an online program called Peloton. The program is a newer invention that allows her stationary bike to connect digitally to a competitive cycling class and adapt her cardio intensity based on how she feels on that particular day. Whenever she is in the mood for a switch, Robin also goes to yoga or pilates classes, because her bone structure and organism changed after her cancer treatment. After the workouts, she tends to take a 20-minute nap and swears that 20 to 30 minutes of Transcendental Meditation feels like 5 hours of sleep to her.
