- She inherited her passion for acting from her father, mother, and paternal grandmother who were all well-known actors at the time of her birth.
- Romy was just 4 weeks old when her parents brought her to live with her grandparents in Schönau am Königssee, where she spent the rest of her childhood with her brother.
- For the first year of her life, she was raised by a governess as both of her parents could not find the time to take care of her.
- In the year 1945, Romy’s parents legally parted ways from one another. She was about 6 or 7 years old at the time.
- During her teenage years, Romy’s mother dated restauranteur Hans Herbert Blatzheim. Romy once stated that Blatzheim had harmful feelings for her.
