  2. Quickly after his birth, the whole family moved to Amos, Quebec, Canada, and stayed there until Roy was 11 years old.

  7. Roy accidentally went into acting, after a female friend of his that studied at the National Theatre School of Canada, asked him to help her with her lines for a play. A few days after doing so, another friend of the girl, named Stefen Labelle, backed out of the audition for the play in the last minute but had the same date and time as the girl, after which he stepped in at the insistence of his female friend.
  8. Roy essentially presented himself as Stefen, and impressed the director of the play, but was quickly found out because the real Stefen’s picture revealed he was an Afro-haired, African-American guy, which made impersonation easily discoverable, and highly illegal. However, the director told Roy to go and register if he really wanted to attend the school, and never tell anyone how he started if he got accepted, which he did.
  9. He went from almost complete anonymity to being a superstar when he starred in the drama movie Les Filles de Caleb in 1990, which was seen by 80% of the population of Quebec.

  13. His love for the mountains, forests, and lakes, came from the region Abitibi, a desolate, natural area around 500 miles from Montreal that he lived in as a child. After a successful career, Roy moved to the countryside near Quebec and started restoring a 1840s farmhouse out of passion and interest for antique refurbishing.
  14. In 2005, he began restoring second-hand sailing boats and making them shine in their former glory. He also took lessons in water navigation and started going on various adventures.
  15. Jon Cassar, the producer of the well-known TV series 24 (2001-2010), offered Roy a role in the 5th season, alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Elisha Cuthbert, but he declined.
