- For his performances in the 2019 season, Sam was named the ‘ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Rookie of the Year’. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the conference’s member universities compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
- In his junior season (2021), in a game against the Georgia State University, he threw for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns; and rushed for 104 yards. - Sam finished the 2021 season throwing for 3,056 yards with 24 touchdowns while rushing for 828 yards with 11 touchdowns.
