  1. He was brought up in India.
  2. He has recalled that when he had decided to start dance classes, he had only seven students, five of whom had been his family and friends. However, he had been certain that performing arts was his true calling, and he had longed to use that as a platform for people to find themselves, also to realize their true calling, and find a space where they would never be judged. He had been delighted to witness how, over time, people began understanding the incredible power of dance to heal be it mentally, physically, or emotionally.
  3. Shiamak has been the Director of Choreography for the Commonwealth Games, Melbourne as well as the Commonwealth Games, Delhi.
  4. For his contributions to entertainment in India as well as all over the globe, he was conferred with an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University.
  5. He has run the renowned dance school in his name, Shiamak Davar’s Institute for the Performing Arts (S.D.I.P.A.) that got established in 1991 where all kinds of dances have been taught.
