- She was born at the Clinica Regina Margherita in Rome.
- Loren’s parents did not tie the knot as a result of which her mother had to raise 2 daughters single-handedly with no proper financial support.
- Sophia spent most of her younger days growing up at her grandmother’s house in Pozzuoli.
- She had only met her father 3 times at the ages of 5, 17, and at his deathbed in 1976.
- Sophia had witnessed the horrors of the “Second World War” first hand. During one such bombing raid at Pozzuoli, she was struck by a fragment in the chin while trying to run to safety to a shelter. After the incident, the family moved to Naples and returned after the war had ended.
- In the past, she along with her mother, sister, and grandmother opened a pub in the home where she would cater to American GIs whilst her sister sang and mother played the piano.
