Sushil Kumar is an Indian wrestler who won a 2008 Olympic medal and became the 2nd Indian wrestler to achieve the feat after Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, who won a bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics and won the gold medal in the 74 kg division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. - He was 14 years old when he began training in pehlwani (a form of wrestling contested in the Indian subcontinent) at the Chhatrasal Stadium’s akhada. At the akhada, Sushil Kumar was trained by Yashvir and Ramphal.

- Sushil Kumar later received training from Arjuna awardee Satpal Singh and was then trained by Gyan Singh and Rajkumar Baisla Gurjar at the Indian Railways camp.
