Ty Murray Facts

  1. His father was a former rodeo hand while his mother was a young rider in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association.
  2. At the age of 18, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and later became the youngest PRCA World All-Around Cowboy, as per the Guinness Book of Records.
  3. He acquired the World All-Around Champion title 7 times from 1989 to 1994 and 1998.
  4. In 1994, he surpassed Larry Mahan’s and Ferguson’s record of 6 titles and tied with Ferguson’s record of 6 titles consecutively. It was this time that Murray was being dubbed as the “King of the Cowboys”.
  5. He was inducted into the PRCA’s ProRodeo Hall of Fame at a very young age.
  6. In November 1999, he appeared as “himself” in an episode of the action-crime TV series, Walker, Texas Ranger.
