- He previously worked as a lawyer for various Russian companies.
- Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a cholinesterase inhibitor in August 2020.
- Reportedly, Vladimir Putin never actually pronounced Alexei Navalny’s name in public. He instead referred to Navalny as a “mister” or the like. Julia Ioffe (a Russian-born American journalist) described it as a sign of weakness before the opposition politician and Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov later stated that Putin never pronounced Navalny’s name in order not to “give [Navalny] a part of his popularity”. Bloomberg‘s sources “familiar with the matter” reported in July 2015 that there was an informal prohibition from the Kremlin for senior Russian officials from mentioning Navalny’s name. However, Peskov rejected the assumption of such a ban; however, even in doing so, he did not mention Navalny’s name.
