Barbora Strýcová is a Czech professional tennis player who has been well-recognized as one of the top tennis players with multiple winning streaks for both singles and doubles tournaments. Among all of her achievements, her best ones were from the doubles and singles Grand Slam performances which she had both won during the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. Before she made her debut as a professional, she was already a strong player back in her junior years during which she had a combined victory of 5 Grand Slams awards from 2002 to 2003 from both girls’ singles and girls’ doubles tournaments. She turned professional in 2003 and managed to reach the top 300 after playing on ITF Women’s Circuit events. From 2005 to 2007, she had her ups and downs in her playing career, which dropped her out of the top 100 in the world’s ranking. In 2008, she managed her way back to the top 100 world’s ranking after hitting multiple wins and bringing great results during the season. She had won titles from various events and was qualified for Wimbledon, keeping her position in the top 100 in that same year.
In the early 2000s of her career, Strýcová’s records were in limbo with combined wins and losses as well as falling under the top 100 more than once. Despite that little downside, she was able to bring herself back in her winning state in the years 2014 to 2018. In 2017, she won her 2nd WTA title after defeating Magdalena Rybarikova in the final rounds of the Linz Open. In 2018, Strýcová won against Bernarda Pera in straight sets but lost again to Karolína Plíšková in a three-setter round. She played for the 2018 BNP Paribas Open during which she lost the second round to Croatia’s player Petra Martić in a singles match. On that same year, she won the final round of the doubles in a match against Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina. In January 2019, she played for doubles with partner Markéta Vondroušová and reached the semifinal rounds of the Australian Open. However, they were beaten by their opponents Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai. Strýcová played again for singles and doubles in July 2019, during which she had attained a career-best record in a Grand Slam tournament for both singles and doubles matches.
