Damon Albarn is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer who is best known for his work as the lead singer and lyricist of the English rock band Blur. He is also well recognized for co-founding and serving as the lead vocalist, instrumentalist, and primary songwriter of the British virtual band Gorillaz which had once been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘Most Successful Virtual Band’. He has also been a member of the musical supergroups – The Good, the Bad & the Queen (2005-2008), and Rocket Juice & the Moon. His debut solo studio album titled Everyday Robots was released in 2014. Besides that, he has also composed the music for several stage productions including Monkey: Journey to the West (2008), Dr Dee (2012), and Wonder.land (2016). In 2016, he was honored with the ‘Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement’ by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. In recognition of his contribution to music, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2016.
